UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

The Foundation’s University Hospital opened its doors on the 31st of January, 1983, to provide patients, families and the community with hospital services of the highest quality and safety standards.

Emphasis is made on providing a warm service everyday with the most outstanding specialists in the different disciplines and with the support of the best human resources and state-of-the-art technologies. With its patient focus, the hospital is committed to excellence with emphasis on safety and care. For this reason, it works hard on continuous improvement of its processes, ensuring respect for the patients and their involvement in their own health care.

The University Hospital has an exclusive group of full-time, dedicated medical staff, a guarantee of immediate availability for meeting patients’ needs.

The Hospital serves an average of 150,000 users every year with its almost 1,500 employees organized in 13 departments, 4 services, 2 institutes, 72 department sections and 6 advisory committees.

HEALTH STUDIES AND RESEARCH CENTER

Founded in 1995 and recognized by COLCIENCIAS in 2006 as a research center, the Health Studies and Research Center is the strategic unit responsible for guiding research work at the Foundation. Its mission is to generate knowledge that may contribute to the improvement of health conditions in Colombia and Latin America.

The Center offers innovative, high-impact, multi-disciplinary, holistic and reproducible initiatives and practices designed to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities alike. These include:

• Research for the creation and dissemination of useful knowledge in the area of health.
• Sectoral public policy analysis and proposals.
• Model center for clinical and public health research in Colombia and Latin America.
• Highly qualified human talent in research.
• Research incentives.

Over the years, the center has gained important national and international recognition in the area of research.

It provides technical assistance to the Corporation’s 12 research groups, five of which are recognized by COLCIENCIAS.

COMMUNITY HEALTH

The purpose of this division is to lead and facilitate endeavors for building healthy environments as part of the Foundation’s corporate social responsibility and its commitment to be of service to the country.

It is responsible for developing and/or enabling the construction of sustainable healthy environments through the implementation of innovative models for health promotion, disease prevention and protection, emphasizing the relationship between health and the environment.

It develops community-focused health, environmental management and public health programs and projects in the following areas:

Environment and environmental management.

Application of methodologies for the design of health service and/or program evaluation processes.

Use of quality tools for service improvement.

Development of education and communication methodologies for the implementation of the community health program with a family focus.

EDUCATION DIVISION

This division promotes the creation and dissemination of knowledge through classroom and on-line education, research and development, sharing of scientific knowledge and innovation, acting as a driving force for the future of medicine.

The mission of the Education Division is to develop and implement top-quality, innovative, reproducible formal and non-formal education programs that have a positive impact on the health sector, integrating knowledge through the development of information and communication technologies.
